November 2009 Update

Written by Anabel on November 15, 2009 – 1:31 AM -

A big thank you to those who continue to visit the website.

The flow of information is still slow as ever despite the fact that we now have a computer and a digital camera in Sapian. The photos taken by Maridel Olandesca last fiesta was forwarded to our webmaster Alfonso Varon along with others that was sent to me. Unfortunately, it has not been published yet.

Apologies for the failures and delays where the photos are concerned. Please know that the amount of information on our website will ultimately depend on the participation of SOL membership. I, too, had been very busy and finds it difficult to keep up.

Kudos to those who posted and kept the forum board going and thanks to all who provided links to useful information, and of course to those who posted messages to this wordpress section. Bisan singkiri lang duna basta may naga post, okay lang ron.

Please know that amongst millions of people who use the internet, less than one percent actually contribute to its content. The number of posts in SOL merely reflect the overall statistic; most of us are happy just watching, reading and browsing.

Networking websites like Facebook, My Space and Friendster had become very popular. It is great to see a lot of young Sapianons embracing the technology and trying the mashups offered for entertainment and connectivity. These websites can greatly help Sapianons reconnect and provide sophisticated softwares and tools that we cannot possibly offer here at our website. Their photosharing facilities for example is a great tool for Sapianons to share pictures by uploading it themselves. But as fun as these websites may be, please remember that we have our very own website and that we do need your presence and contributions here sometimes.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your support as the spirit of Christmas gift-giving approaches. We are raising funds to help the Sapian Fire Brigade buy their fire fighting uniforms and help the Sapian Health Clinic with their birthing facilities. SCN projects based at SNHS will now expand to the Barangay Hall in Poblacion. For more details, please click “Articles” then “Friends of SOL”.

Kudos to Reyman Herrera for already sending medical paraphernalias to Nang Yolie Tupaz at Sapian Health Clinic. My admiration to Baby Aperocho- Gallardo for sending school materials to the children of Lubog Primary School. I also would like to express my high regards for the efforts of Ben and Vilma Villareal, Ray and Daisy Fagutao, Manny and Diday Lahera, Madelyn Lahera, Allan and Adelfa Vestidas for their once a month pakain at Angkin Primary School.

These are wonderful actions that we would like to advocate; good news that is worth mentioning.

If you have any good tidings to spread, please feel free to share it here at Sapian Online.

MERRY CHRISTMAS KINYO TANAN !!!

YOU CAN STILL VOTE FOR YOUR BEST ESSAY, open till February 2010.

To access, click ‘Articles’, then look for the essay entries.

To answer the essay query:

The authors names are not included as a rule. Only registration numbers and titles were published with the essays to avoid favoritism. We want to choose the winners based on the content of their work. The winning titles will be sent to Sapian and the registration record be consulted to see the winning authors. The winners names will be revealed during the presentation in March and their names be published with their work here at SOL, that is, once the competition is over.  The children worked so hard for these essays, so please, take the time to read them all and then cast your vote for first, second and third essay.

Thank you all once again.

Cheers

Sapian Community Network

Sapian Online has a very limited audience. Web citizens comprise less that 3% of the population. If we want to reach and involve the whole of Sapian, we need to branch out. And if we are to make a difference in the lives of common Sapianons, we need strong branches through organized, independent community network.
