June 2008 Update
Our thanks and appreciation to Ms. Maridel Olandesca for sending us a lot of photos. It will be displayed at the pictures gallery as soon as it is ready.
I- WEBSITE UPDATE
Before I left for Sapian in May, the administrators viewed the website’s statistic. It showed that eventhough people are not posting, we have a lot of traffic. People are reading especially the news items, the articles, and the most popular ones are the photos.
It is a little disheartening to see that Sapianons are not posting but I would like to think that it has nothing to do with indifference. I believe it has more to do with the culture. This is a little hard to explain so I will just leave it at that. What is important is that people are still obviously interested.
To those who got my grip about the culture thing, this is what I want to say. If you are still caught up in that, how long are we going to wait for you to overcome that? One may say: “ahhh, I’m too shy to participate”, or “ahhh, I’m too busy”, but please don’t say “ahhh, is that all they can do?.” Alfonso, Civic and I, did the best we can and will do more. What we want to see is for more supporters to come forward and help out.
We now live in the global world, let us shake off the negative culture that doesn’t serve us anymore. SOL will continue whether you help us or not. But we can accomplish much, much more if more people make an effort to contribute.
When I came back from Sapian, I got a lot of news information with me. I have talked to few people in Sapian that could help us improve the content of the website. I left 2 digital cameras there so we can have more photos. My problem is that I don’t have enough time to digitise all these and we have no working bees in the website. There is a need for us to get organised and share the workload.
I PROPOSE TO FORM COMMITTEES, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Send an email to sapianonline@yahoo.com.
Please don’t be shy, WE NEED YOU!!!
II- SCN UPDATE
The SCN group is doing well. We had more books, magazines and encyclopaedias to cover. They are very committed in undertaking the projects. Ms Ligaya Ofalla Oro is very keen in guiding them through. I am very happy to see that the projects are running well as planned.
The SCN column here at SOL needs a lot of work. It is supposed to hold SCN related articles, news and updates. We will address it once we formed a special committee for it.
III- SOL/SCN PROJECTS
The ultimate aim of SOL is to deliver projects that would benefit Sapianons. I am happy to announce that we have established a competent group there in Sapian through SCN to carry out simple projects. It is so inspiring to see the young students of SNHS take up the challenge. I am happy for them to have this opportunity to experience the bond towards a worthwhile goal. I am confident that we can now safely proceed with the projects and aim for bigger targets.
IV- WATCH OUT
We will get organised here in the website, and once we are ready, we are going to do exciting things.
WE ARE UP TO SOMETHING, and in one way or another, YOU WILL BE A PART OF IT. YOU WILL HAVE TO LEAVE THAT CULTURE THINGY BEHIND.
YOU WILL HEAR FROM US…
THAT’S FOR SURE : )

I think the reason why people are posting anymore is that they are capped to post their sentiments. Before it was more open and guest can even butt in their comments. Now its only limited for members. I think the web master is also busy. I heard lots of picture where already sent to be posted on the site but till now those pics were nowhere to be seen. I think those were few of the reason why those enthusiastic member before back off further. Well, this is just an opinion. I hope it could help.

Thank you for your comment “stone hard”.
In the beginning, we wanted everyone to post but then we had problems with some guests posting inappropriate contents. We also had a problem with robots, so we really need to take necessary steps to protect the site.
Membership is free and open to all… even to non-Sapianons. Membership allows us to manage the posts and ensure that we have acceptable contents as this is supposed to be a community website. Any sentiments, opinions, debates and any thought provoking entries are most welcome and even encouraged here.
About the photos, I got lots of photos (from Maridel) for me to do as well and there would be more photos after the fiesta. I now have decided to get a laptop for Maridel and others to use so they can digitise the information there and send to us via online. The postal services in there is still appalling; the best way to handle this is for them (in Sapian)to type it already and just send to us via email.
You are right, our webmaster is busy, we all are. He tries his best when he finds the time. I really want to do more but we can only do enough. I dedicate enough time to SOL but there are so much to be done. There is really a need to get organised, to delegate and share the workload inorder to achieve a desirable result. Something that we can all be proud of.
In the olden days, people tend to do just that: step back, back off. My challenge is that instead of doing that, why not step in and help out. Say, “I can see you guys are struggling, what can I do to help?”
I want to see Sapian Online not only as a venue for Sapianons and others to see town photos and catch some news but also as a website where everyone is free and willing to participate and contribute.
It is a long, long way for us Filipinos, I wish to see Sapianons get there sooner
Other towns don’t even have a website yet, WE HAVE! All you have to do is use it, support it, help in maintaining it, or make it worthwhile by sharing your talents to make it better.
