March 2009 Update

  - Sapian Elementary School and Sapian National High School end of school year awards will be posted here as soon as it made available.

-Digitising the entries for the essay competition is quite a challenge for SNHS considering that the school is very busy with activities after the maths competitions, JS prom, and the exams. With the closing ceremonies past approaching, we do not have a choice but wait.

 - 2 more forex boxes of books and magazines  are on their way to SNHS. An email was sent to SNHS for SCN members to cover the books as soon as the boxes arrive in summer. Since, there are now lots of collection at SNHS, selected copies will be sent to the Barangay Hall to allow other Sapianons access to quality reading materials. Target materials for the Barangay Hall would be reader’s digest, time magazines, national geographic magazines, women’s magazines, gardening and motoring magazines. SCN members will stamp and cover the materials and monitor its whereabouts. Mr. Arnz Caberte, the Mayor’s secretary ensured that the materials will be taken care of.

 - Mrs. Yolie Tupaz of Sapian health centre asked  Reyman Herrera for much needed  support at the centre especially for the birthing clinic. Reyman bought some materials and asked to connect his initiative here at SOL.

-Mr. Stephen Cerilo, Sapian’s OIC- Fire Officer was asking for help to buy protective gears for the volunteer fire brigades. I gathered that he had no luck with the solicitation, so I volunteered to raise the funds thru SOL but only if they print www.sapianonline.com on the uniforms. Mr. Arnz Caberte talked it over with Mayor Orosco, they agreed and very appreciative with the offer.

- With the global economic instability looming, people might think that this is the last thing that people should be committing into. But hey, we can choose to be miserable or we can choose to be positive and participate in something worthwhile such as this. There are stimulus package that capable governments give away to help their economies but something like that is unheard of in a country such as ours. It really is up to us to be part of the solution, to give back to our hometown. Sapianons to help Sapian, right now in 2009.

Sapian Community Network

Sapian Online has a very limited audience. Web citizens comprise less that 3% of the population. If we want to reach and involve the whole of Sapian, we need to branch out. And if we are to make a difference in the lives of common Sapianons, we need strong branches through organized, independent community network.
