That Feeling Called Love

by: Marie Jane Oxemer

A young lepidoptera trying to spread her new found wings
A thing of beauty, so they say.
Observers can’t just pull stares away.
Captivated to hold the fragile loveliness.

Caught a glimpse of you one day,
A gentle flower in bloom; beauty to behold
I dare admire and long to get close to.
Savor the bliss unknown to me.

Radiant magnificence ensnared my eyes.
I admire you and you do me too.
Two of a kind we are.
You were cultivated by experience, weathered through storms.

You satiate my empty psyche with encouragements
Saw beyond the exterior beauty.
Afraid to open my wings; you calmed my fears.
Warranted me to seek the strength to take wing.

Now I lay dazed; adamant to flap my wings.
So comfortable you made me in you.
No longer do I want to leave nor
desert the sweetness of you.

But a butterfly has to fly, or she dies;
Release me; say the words but not goodbye.
Just say you believe in me, then I can be free.
I’ll soar higher towards the sky, to horizons that awaits me.
