Submissions for the Essay Writing Contest are now available for viewing. SOL members are invited to vote to help decide the winners.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU CAN VOTE UNTIL FEBRUARY 2010 AND THE AWARDING OF WINNERS IS EXTENDED TO MARCH 2010 during the recognition/graduation ceremony at SNHS. We received the entries very late, the extension was needed to allow SOL members to vote for the winners.

SNHS Essay Writing Competition

Sapian Online Project 2008 to 2009:

Time frame:
1.    Start - November  2008- Registration
2.    January 10, 2009- Deadline for Submission
3.    January 11- SNHS facilitators choose top ten
4.    January 15- Top Ten are posted at SOL and members vote for winners
5.    March 10- Winners are decided
6.    March Recognition Day at SNHS- Awarding of winners


Awards:
First Prize- 3,000 pesos
Second Prize- 2,000 pesos
Third Prize- 1,000 pesos
7 Inspirational Winners- 500 pesos each


Procedure:
1.    Entrant receives this information sheet with a registration number.
2.    Decide a topic, anything as long as it is historical: history of a sitio or baryo, life as told during the Spanish time, Japanese time, any interesting stories  of the past, etc., and give it a title.
3.    Interview 3 to 5 elderly Sapianons over 40 years old about the chosen topic.
4.    Write an essay based on the interviews.
5.    The names of the people interviewed need to be included at the end of the essay.
6.    Do not write your name on the submitted essay, just the title and the registration number.  Names of the winners will be announced later.
7.    Bring your essay to Ms. Ligaya Oro for signature and have it marked with Sapian Online stamp.
8.    Photocopy your essay then submit the copy.
